Meet Mitchell Mathews, the driving force behind Local Choice Automotive in Lafayette, Louisiana. Mitchell's journey from humble beginnings to hard working entrepreneur is a testament to his unwavering determination and entrepreneurial spirit.

With nearly a decade of experience working his way up from a new salesman to the General Manager of one of Louisiana's most prominent Dealer Groups, Mitchell's expertise in the automotive industry is unparalleled. Fueled by his passion for cars and a desire to provide exceptional service, he took a bold leap of faith and founded Local Choice Automotive.

But Mitchell's entrepreneurial pursuits extend beyond the automotive world. As the owner of Local Choice Insurance Agency and Local Choice Portable Buildings & More, he's no stranger to owning and operating successful businesses. Recently, Mitchell has ventured into franchising as the proud owner of Batteries Plus, with plans to expand across seven territories in Louisiana.

Yet, amidst his busy professional life, Mitchell's true priorities lie with his family. For over 23 years, he's shared a deep bond with his wife and cherished every moment as a father to their two daughters. When he's not busy at work, Mitchell finds solace in the great outdoors, indulging his passions for hunting, fishing, and spending quality time at the camp with family and friends.

Scott Backstrom - Store Manager

If you have ever been to our Local Choice Automotive store or contacted us you have probably already met or spoken with Scott Backstrom, but if you haven’t we would like to introduce you to the person who is responsible for managing every part of the daily front line operations for Local Choice Automotive. If you see a vehicle on our frontline for sale or leaving our store with a new owner you can be sure Scott has signed off that not only was the vehicle up to Local Choice Automotive standards but also that the customer who purchased it had a good experience and was given a fair and transparent deal. Scott has almost a decade of automotive experience and has held almost every position you can have in a preowned sales department for one of the largest franchise auto groups in south Louisiana. After several years in sales Scott was promoted to assistant manager and lead acquisition manager/buyer before eventually spending time as both a sales and finance manager. He then was given the opportunity to manage the opening of 2 brand new stand alone pre owned stores for the organization which he spent his last few years with them doing before deciding to take a break from the car business. Well lucky for Local Choice this only lasted 6 months because his love and passion for it didn’t let him stay away.

If you ask Scott what is his favorite thing about his job it will absolutely be the same thing that it was years ago when he was a green salesperson. His #1 goal which has become sort of a motto for our Local Choice team is to provide “A different car buying experience.” And by different Scott’s favorite thing to hear from a customer above anything else is how much they appreciate how Fast, Transparent, Enjoyable, and Easy it is to buy a car from him. The customer experience will always be prioritized before anything else when you come to Local Choice and that is in large part because of the policies, procedures, and culture Scott has implemented for our whole team.

On the rare occasion that Scott is not in the office or out searching for and acquiring the highest quality preowned vehicles for our inventory you can probably find him on the golf course with a group of friends! He is a proud McNeese State Alum where he was a member of the golf team while earning his bachelor's degree in business.
